Locomotive Engines & General Engineering adhere to the strict policies that are implemented by the Rail Safety Regulator as per our operating permit ASP0957T (dangerous goods). Under the Railway Safety Regulator Act, standards and regulations that apply to railway operators are required to attain and maintain a safety permit for the activities and services they perform. The below examples are some of the conditions:

  • Develop and maintain a robust Safety Management system (SMS)
  • Carry out Risk Assessments
  • Develop Safe operating procedures (SOP)
  • Conduct rail investigations
  • Safety investigations on the rail reserve and lines
  • Rail accident investigations
  • RSR submissions

The improvement in our operating  standards has been proved over time in the operations of dangerous goods ie: fuels and gases. Our Safety Officer Mr IG Grunewald ensures that all paperwork is site retained and and co-ordination between rail maintainer and operations is enhanced and through installed paperwork where operational issues are eliminated.
